Our Story

Gadat House was founded by visual artist and fashion designer Nompumelelo Nhlapho, whose passion for art, clothing and design began at the age of five when her step dad gifted her paper dolls. As she grew, her love for fashion deepened into a means of exploring and expressing her multidisciplinary artistry across various mediums.

Coming from a resource-limited background, Nompumelelo recognized the need to be both an artist and an advocate, amplifying voices like her own. Gadat House was built on the principles of authentic storytelling, ethical artistry, and fostering community growth and empowerment.

The brand aspires to establish itself as a luxury fashion house—a legacy brand championed and amplified by African voices and artists. But for now, Gadat House is telling stories, one chapter at a time.
